“So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead!”

The Bible states a faith without works is dead. As Christians, we need to do more than go to church on Sunday mornings. We need works. We need action. It can be hard to figure out where to start accomplishing works of faith. The Bible is full of commands; however, let us narrow it down to five basic tasks a Christian must do. Only when we do good works will our faith revive and come to life.

First, we must keep the Lord’s Day holy. We must not treat Sundays like any other day. We must worship God at a designated time and place. We must not work. We must be frugal with our words. We must think of the Lord’s work and make an effort to change. We must not go back and forth from church robotically and out of habit. We must be enlightened and reformed on the Lord’s Day.

Second, we must achieve understanding by reading or listening to the word of God. We must not skim through the Bible or lazily listen to sermons. When we read or hear the word of God, we must reach some understanding about how that word will change our lives. It must push us to action.

Third, we must pray. (Please look at other posts for how to pray).
4 Step Prayer

Fourth, we must preach the word to others and spread the gospel. We must make an effort to evangelize. In all our words and acts, we must be careful not to harm the salvation of others. We must always ask, “Will these words or actions cause harm to this person’s salvation?”

Fifth, we must pay tithe. Regardless of how you may profess to be a good Christian if you are stingy with your money and do not pay tithe, you are a fake Christian. Pay tithe and believe all things belong to God.

In conclusion, we must remember a faith without works is dead. We must do works to sustain a living faith. We can start with five basic works all Christians must do.
