25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world.” John 11:25-27

After Jesus Christ was crucified, Joseph placed Christ’s body in a tomb. A large stone blocked the entrance, and soldiers guarded the tomb. On the third day, early Sunday morning, Mary and others went to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus. A severe earthquake took place, and “an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat on it.” The guards shook in fear, and the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said.”

Today we celebrate Easter Sunday or Resurrection Day to remember the Lord rising from the dead. He did this on the Sabbath. Although Easter Sunday comes once a year, we must “resurrect” every Lord’s Day. We must come to life every Sunday. We must revive what is “dead” every Sunday. Resurrection Day serves as a reminder and a day of emphasis for something we must do every week.

Repeat after me:

The Sabbath is the day to resurrect the dead!

The Sabbath is the day to resurrect the dead!

We resurrect through faith!

We resurrect through faith!

How do you spend your Sundays? We should spend the Lord’s Day thinking about Jesus’ death and His resurrection. On Sundays, the Lord resurrects us, and we live through this power for six days. We connect to His power of death and resurrection through faith. “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” Believe in Him for He is the resurrection and the life! Connect to His death and resurrection through faith!

On the Lord’s Day, Jesus rose from the dead. The Sabbath is the day to “resurrect” all that is “dead” in our lives. Is your relationship with your spouse “dead”? Is your job “dead”? Are you dead inside? Sunday is the day to revive all that is “dead” in our lives! Our thoughts, actions, temperament, and words, which have been defiled and corrupted, come to life and are resurrected on the Lord’s Day. Every Sunday, including Easter Sunday, should be a time for us to reflect and revive those things that have strayed from God. Death by definition means “separation from God.”

How do we revive what is dead? How do we resurrect our lives? Only through faith! We are resurrected through faith. Believing His Word resurrects us. Believing in His Words brings eternal life. Believe without a doubt that His Word is true and infallible! Then, act according to this Word despite all the obstacles and hardships you encounter. Faith is the only way to revive what is dead and broken in our lives. And this happens on Sunday.

Therefore, the Lord’s Day is the day to revive what is dead. We receive the gift of holiness and His infinite blessings. The Sabbath is the day everything in our lives can change. It is the day we become renewed. We become sanctified. It is the day we turn to holiness. All this is possible through faith.
