“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalms 91:1
We must understand that what we do not know is much greater than what we know. Yet, we can be saved from this depth of ignorance and climb to the top of the hill of knowledge through salvation. What hill have I been put to climb, what kind of suffering or difficulty must I face? We must know that the Lord is the only one who can set us atop this hill. We have no other savior but the Lord. No matter what we face, only the Lord can pull us up to the top of the hill of salvation. We must always know and remember this.
What is the way we can receive this salvation? How can we be saved and climb to the top of the hill? What do we do so that the Lord will save us from all our enemies and move us to a peaceful place? The Lord is the only one who can give us this salvation, and the way to receive His salvation is to LOVE and KNOW Him. If we put forth the effort to know His direction, the Lord will guide us. If we try to learn the Lord’s way, the Holy Spirit will inspire us with a deeper understanding of His purpose. We must ask ourselves when we act or think: is this loving the Lord or loving the world? When we encounter each moment, our actions determine if we are saved, pulled up from the depths, or sink even deeper. How should I act in a way that is loving God? What is the way that is loving the world, money, and human concerns? When we focus on the Lord, up the hill we go, not down! Through knowledge, we gain an understanding of how to love God: we can discern the right choice and recognize what is towards and what is away from the Lord.
To love the Lord, we must abandon ourselves, our family, our lives, money, power, ambition, desire. We use love as a guide to know the right direction to receive the Lord’s salvation. We use love as the test for what is following God and what is following our own agenda. Everything complicated becomes simple when we use love as our test. Considering first what the Lord wants, what will make Him happy is how we enable the Lord’s salvation to come to us. The Lord will move us up the right hills, including the hills of cleanness, diligence, love, humility, honesty just as he did for Daniel and David, whom He even raised in worldly stature above all others.
We must know that the Lord is the highest. Whatever we suffer, we must always put the Lord first and bear His cross. Everything great and small in this world and beyond comes from the Lord. The Lord owns everything. We must know that everything that happens in this world, small and great – good or bad – originates from the Lord. We must know that the Lord of heaven loves us. Jesus, His son, came to this earth and died on the cross for us. The road to receiving our salvation is choosing to act in a way where we love the Lord and seek to know the Lord. Whatever we lack, even if we have nothing, the Lord can provide for us and place us atop the hill of salvation and glory.
