7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5: 7

Stop worrying. Easier said than done. But once we’ve gathered enough experience and grow in faith, we reach the point where we know there are things we can’t control. There are tons of things to worry about, but nothing we can do. We worry and fret. We do what we can, but in the end, we’re powerless. Finally, we entrust God with all our worries. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” But once we’ve decided to cast all our anxieties on God, what do we do? What does it actually mean to “cast all your anxiety on him”? Let’s do three things.

One.
Be patient and endure. This can be hard to do when things look bleak and hopeless. Is God going to pull through for me? But we need to remain steadfast. God will not change. So we must not change regardless of the challenges we face. We entrust everything to God and leave the results to Him. That’s no longer our job. We leave it in His hands and have faith He will do what is best for us. Look at Abraham’s patience and perseverance! For three generations- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob- they dwelled in tents living as nomads. They did not despair. They cast all their anxieties on God and didn’t waver. We need this kind of patience and endurance. We are too quick to turn on God at the first sign of adversity.

Two.
While entrusting God with everything, we must obey God. We must do what He says in every situation we face in life. We can’t just cast all our anxieties on Him and rest on our laurels. We must find what God is asking us to do, and we must do those things. What does God want me to do right now? How can I be obedient? Our obedience can be a part of the solution for matters in which we have entrusted God. When God asks to do something, that obedience could very well be what resolves our worries. So while being patient and enduring, be active in obeying God.

Third.
Don’t take back what you’ve entrusted to God. In other words, you’ve cast your anxiety on God in this particular issue. But you get nervous. People tell you it’s the wrong thing to do. You feel pressure to put God aside and take matters into your own hands. Don’t do this! We see it too many times. We start off by saying, “God, I’m powerless. Please take care of this matter and do as you see fit. I cast all my worries upon you.” But we can’t leave it in God’s hands because our partner tells us we need to be smarter. Our loved ones tell us it’s dangerous. Our best friend tells us there’s a better way. Whatever temptation comes your way, don’t take back what you’ve cast on God.

What are you worried about now? Your family? Your children? Your health? Your financial security? If we want to worry, we could spend the entire day anxious and nervous. And many of us spend our lives worried about everything. Cast all your anxieties on God. And when you put it all in God’s hands, be patient and endure. Be active in obedience. Don’t waver in your trust and remain steadfast. If we do these things, we can live a worry-free life and have absolute faith that God will do what is best for us!
