Revelations 1:3
3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.
When we live according to His Truth, we believe the Lord is in control of all we face in this world. We know that no harm can come to us with the Lord’s protection. The chosen have been granted eternal salvation and life by the Lord’s grace through the blood of Jesus’ redemption, the truth of His Word, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Yet, we still find ourselves afraid of physical death. We falter because we are not “wearing” the power of this salvation in our daily lives. Only when we truly believe in God’s power, His love, and the redemption we received through His son can we “wear” our salvation correctly.
To help us hold onto and build our salvation, here are seven prayer themes for us to use in our prayers.
- Pray to meet each moment in our lives, always wearing our salvation.
In our daily lives, at each moment we face, we must always consider how it connects to our salvation. Remind ourselves to build our salvation: I should do this, not this. If we wear the Lord’s salvation at all times, whatever dangers we face in this world can never defeat us. The Lord sends us difficulty to teach us, repent, and help us grow more perfect and whole in our faith. The Lord sends us these challenges to enable us to overcome our fears to renew and fortify our commitment to the salvation given us through His grace. Pray to meet these moments always wearing our salvation.
- Pray to make God happy and glorify him in how we act in our daily lives.
Pleasing God should drive all our daily actions. We must not betray God trying to protect our money, security, lives, or anything else. Say to yourself at each moment, “Though I live or die, I must choose the path to bring God joy.” While it may seem to be a loss at the time, we must confidently know choosing to obey God will always be to our benefit. We need to be willing to give up everything – even our lives – to obey God. To do this, we cannot do so on our own. Therefore, we must pray for God’s help to act and bring Him joy each day.
- Pray to seek a never-ending faith.
What kind of faith do we seek? A never-ending faith. Even if we face death, we must choose to obey. If we hold on to our faith no matter what, God will remove every obstacle from our path miraculously, or we leave this world being true to our faith. Even if we face physical death, our faith must never change. We must pray to have a never-ending faith to bring with us as we enter heaven for eternal salvation.
- Pray to repent our faults.
Becoming one with God through prayer will enable us to recognize what to repent. “Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow” through our repentance. We must remember this passage and gain strength from it. We all have sins to repent. Even if we sin the same sin seven times in a day, God will always forgive us if our repentance is genuine. When we seek forgiveness, God will always grant it and wash our sins away, but we can only truly repent if God helps us. Without God’s help, we will not recognize our sins nor have the power to truly repent them and change ourselves. Adam and Eve were deceived by the serpent to believe that the forbidden fruit would be good for them though it was their death. If we do not have God helping us, we see what is bad as good, failure as success. Therefore, let us pray for God to give us the power to recognize our sins and to truly repent them.
- Pray to prepare to meet discipline faithfully.
Discipline is different from punishment because it is hardship sent to help us correct what is wrong. When we do wrong, God disciplines us to help us become closer to Him. We must pray in preparation, so that we can understand why, correct, and overcome whatever hardship comes our way. We must pray to face God’s discipline faithfully by correctly repenting our sins and transforming ourselves to be more perfect and whole in our faith. In this way, we turn God’s discipline into blessings.
- Pray for God to give us the ability to evangelize others.
When we see Jesus, we can see God. When we become like Jesus, then others can see God through us. We must be humble and care for others and interact with people each day just as Jesus did. Jesus cared for us all. Though he was the son of God, Jesus took on the humblest form to serve us all. We must strive to be humble like Jesus who sacrificed all of himself to save us. Pray to receive the power to evangelize by becoming like Jesus. Pray to receive the power to be proof of Jesus and God to those around us.
- Pray to be prepared to meet God on Judgment day with joy.
We must pray to live so that when that day comes, we can meet God with confidence. We must pray each day to clean ourselves, repent our sins, address our weaknesses, and build up our faith. Settle all sins and wrongdoings before then. Prepare ourselves to become one with him from this moment, so we can meet the Lord on that day with joy and happiness.
When we live with the truth of His salvation, we are able overcome whatever the world throws at us because we wear the protection of the all-powerful Lord. All that happens in this world is controlled by our Lord. Our fear comes to us when we are not fully committed to our faith, when we do not wear the power of His salvation. The Lord sends us trials when our faith falters to help build it up. Let’s prepare during our time in this world for eternal salvation. Let’s remember these seven themes in our prayers to help us. We must begin at this moment. This world is fleeting and temporary. Let’s prepare well for our salvation so we can enter heaven and eternal life with joy.
